Carbon Monoxide Release Causes Evacuation Of Wheaton Apartment Complex
Residents at PemBridge Square apartments were forced to evacuate their apartments after high levels of carbon monoxide was detected.

WHEATON, MD — Residents at a Wheaton apartment complex were forced to evacuate the building early Tuesday morning after a malfunctioning water heater caused high levels of carbon monoxide in the building, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.
Residents at PemBridge Square apartments were woken up from a carbon monoxide detector that went off around 2:30 a.m. at 2318 Blueridge Ave.
The building was evacuated and paramedics evaluated ten people on the scene, Piringer said.

Piringer said carbon monoxide was detected in two apartments in the building due to a malfunctioning water heater on the second floor.
Residents were allowed back in the building at around 4:30 a.m.
