Human Trafficking Conviction Gets Wheaton Man 20 Years
A hotel maid captured audio recording of a Wheaton man assaulting a woman he prostituted at the Radisson Hotel in Rockville.

WHEATON, MD — A Wheaton man received 20 years in prison for human trafficking charges in the Montgomery County Circuit Court Thursday, according to reports. Marcus Jamal Lindsey, 23, was charged with two felony counts of human trafficking and assault charges.
According to Rolling Out, Lindsey assaulted a 20-year-old woman he was prostituting when she tried to escape him at the Radisson Hotel in Rockville. The victim told police Lindsey punched her and choked her.
A maid at the Radisson recorded audio of Lindsey beating the victim on March, 3, 2016. The maid heard screaming in the room, and she placed her phone at the base of the door to record what was going on inside.

The article states that you can hear the victim say, "I don't want no part in this life" on the recording.
Lindsey allegedly came in contact with the victim and another woman who was in the hotel room from a prostitution ad on Backpage.com. When the victim realized Lindsey was keeping the money she made, she decided she didn't want to work for him anymore.

The woman eventually escaped the hotel room, found a hotel employee and asked them to dial 911. You can hear the 911 call in the video below.
Records show Lindsey made a phone call from the Montgomery County jail, where he was recorded asking someone "So if there's no victim, I should be good on this right?"
Even though the victim didn't show up in court, prosecutors used the cellphone audio and other evidence. A jury convicted Lindsey on Dec. 7.
