Tuesday, April 1 through Sunday, April 27, 2014

with Featured Artist of the Month: Allen Hirsh
Opening reception: Sunday, April 6 from 1 - 5 pm

Allen Hirsh "The Abstract Gardener" is the son of landscapers, whose horticulture nurtured his fascination with exotic plants and gardens. Photographic images of the plants he grows in his garden serve as the basis for much of his digital art. He also had a passion for math and science, becoming a biophysicist and computer programmer, building dynamic painting programs with complex code that allows him to create a wide array of representational, impressionist, surreal and abstract images.

Allen's digital art explores the power of multilevel mathematical equations to sample the virtually infinite patterns hidden in photographic images of flowers, landscapes, and everyday objects - producing images that are compellingly beautiful and exploring the limits of beauty as they relate to mathematically generated hybridizations and transformations.
