Tuesday, April 29 through Monday, May 26, 2014

with Featured Artist of the Month: Carol Bouville
Opening reception: Sunday, May 4 from 1 - 5 pm

Carol Bouville spent much of her early adult life in Toulouse and Paris, France, and New York City, and earned a Master's Degree at the Sorbonne in American Literature.  For many years, she taught English and worked as a translator, and visited many of Europe's major museums.  Traveling extensively in Europe, and visiting Asia, Africa, and South America stimulated her curiosity and raised her awareness of other cultures.  She expresses those experiences in her work, with colorful, active, and energetic surfaces.

Carol is a natural watercolorist, watching colors flow together on a wet surface and seeing the beauty of light reflecting through the layers of transparent color.  She also loves experimenting with collage and mixed water-media both on paper and canvas, allowing a freedom of expression.  Carol is a member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists and the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and is a resident artist at Washington Artworks in Rockville.
