with Featured Artist of the Month: Cathy McDermott
Cathy McDermott loves vibrant color, but also likes the challenge of using a subdued color palette. Her art is constantly evolving, depending on the medium and the subject matter. Early in her career, when Cathy lived in Tennessee, she created more landscapes; now she focuses more on still life and people.
Cathy’s background as an educator and videographer is reflected in her experimentation with different media and subjects. Her master’s is in fiber art, but she’s worked in acrylics, printmaking, drawing, and clay - because of her fascination with the artistic process. Watercolor is her current artistic passion and the most challenging medium that she’s ever worked with.
