Montgomery College Raptors Claim Three NJCAA Region XX Championships
Volleyball, Menโs and Womenโs Soccer Advance to Play for District Titles This Weekend

Three Montgomery College athletics teams won National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX titles this past weekend. By 6 p.m. Saturday, October 30, volleyball (Division 2), womenโs and menโs soccer (both Division 1) were celebrating championships with their eyes on an even bigger prize โ Districts.
The menโs soccer team won the semifinal match of the East District championships in New Rochelle, NY by defeating the host, Monroe College, 1-0, in overtime on October 30. As a result, the Raptors will host state-rival Harford CC in the East District championship final match. The game will be played on MC soccerโs new home turf on the Rockville Campus this Saturday, November 6 at 5 p.m. MC is ranked #16 in the latest national poll while Harford checks in at #19.

Later that day, the top-seeded Montgomery College womenโs soccer team claimed the 2021 Region XX DI championship by scoring in the fourth minute of overtime, defeating the Harford CC Fighting Owls. As a result, the womenโs soccer team will travel to Monroe College to play in the District finals this Friday, November 5, at 1 p.m.
Finally, in the late afternoon last Saturday, the Raptors womenโs volleyball team claimed the Region XX DII championship, defeating WVU Potomac State College 3-1 in the semifinal match before upsetting the top-seeded Hagerstown Community College Hawks, 3-1. As a result, the Raptors host the County College of Morris this Saturday, November 6, at 1 p.m. in the NJCAA DII Mid-Atlantic District Championship at the Rockville Campus. The volleyball team is coached by 2012 MC alum Tori Kenno.
