Police Blotter: March 7 to 15

Several robberies and assaults.

Montgomery County Police released the latest crime statistics for the week of March 7 to March 15 on Thursday.  In addition to the crimes described below, police reported two stolen vehicles from the Lincoln sectors.

Robbery:

  • A strong-arm theft occurred in the Burger King parking lot at 12265 Veirs Mill Road on March 7 at 10:48 p.m.  The suspects asked for cash, when the victim said she had none, they took her purse.
  • Another strong-arm theft occurred the next day at 7:57 p.m. in the 12100 block of Bushey Drive in Silver Spring.  The victim was outside. The suspect ran up, grabbed the victim’s purse, threw the victim to the ground, and fled on foot.  The victim’s purse was found a distance away.  It is unclear if the two thefts are related.
  • A home invasion occurred in the 11400 block of Amherst Avenue at noon on March 4. The suspects forced entry and confronted the victim, throwing him on the floor and threatening to harm him.  Property was taken and the victim was not injured. 

Suspects: two black males, 18-20, 5’9”, 140-160 lbs., both with hair in dreadlocks, wearing a long black jacket and a ski mask,

  • A robbery and sexual assault occurred at the Glenmont Metro on March 11 at 9:20 p.m.  The male suspect demanded money from the female victim and then touched her inappropriately.  She complied with his demand for cash.  The suspect then got on a Ride On bus that went north on Layhill Road. 

Suspect:  Hispanic male, 19-25, 5’6”, 140-150 lbs., short spiky black hairyellow teeth, wearing blue jeans and a white shirt.

Sexual Assault:

  • Police arrested a 27-year-old male from Wheaton for indecent exposure in the 2400 block of Reedie Drive on March 9 at 4:15 p.m.  While intoxicated, the he exposed himself to a female victim.

Residential Burglary:

  • Property was taken in a residential burglary that occurred in the 10800 block of Georgia Avenue on March 7 at 12:27 p.m. There was no forced entry. 
  • On March 15 at 5:45 a.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 2400 block of Sheraton Street. A 41-year-old male from Damascus was arrested.
