Suspect in May 2010 Homicide Arrested in El Salvador
Chavez is currently being held in Texas.

Montgomery County Police announced yesterday that the suspect in the May 2010 murder ofย Hamington Luis Orozco is in custody in Texas and will be transported to Montgomery County to be charged with first-degree murder.
Henry Chavez, 28, had fled to El Salvador after police named him as a suspect in the murder.ย The policeย investigation revealed that just before 8:30 p.m. on May 27, 2010, Orozco was sitting with two friends outside an apartment building in the 10100 block of Georgia Avenue when the suspect, armed with a handgun, approached and shot the victim.ย
MCPD says it is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the homicide.

Police responded to a call of aย suspiciousย situation in the area in the next few minutes and found Orozco. He was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.ย
Chavez, an American citizen, was found with the help of local authorities in El Salvador,ย Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals. Arrested in El Salvador on Feb. 8, Chavez was transferred to the custody the county Sheriffโs office in Houston, Texas the next day. He waived his extradition hearing and will be transported to Montgomery County by the end of February.
