Wheaton Mall Stabbing Was Not Random Attack: Police

A man who was stabbed at Westfield Wheaton Mall Tuesday was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

WHEATON, MD — A man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed at Westfield Wheaton Mall Tuesday, according to police.

Montgomery County Police said they responded to a report of a stabbing at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd around 4:48 p.m. Police told Patch that the victim was stabbed near Last Stop, located on the lower level of the mall. Though the victim suffered life-threatening injuries, police say he is expected to survive.

Investigators said the stabbing was not a random attack, but are still trying to identify the suspect. Police did not immediately release more information. An investigation is under way.
