Power Restored After Outage Knocked Out Traffic Lights (Update)
Montgomery County Police directed traffic at several busy intersections in Wheaton for several hours Wednesday.

WHEATON, MD — Power has been restored in the Wheaton area after an outage knocked out traffic signals at several intersections, and Pepco workers are trying to determine what caused the problem.
Pepco spokesman Bob Hainey said the outage was first reported at 8:30 a.m., with 3,000 customers without electricity at the height of the incident. By 10:30 a.m., the power had been restored to all customers.

Montgomery County Police had to direct traffic at several intersections while traffic signals were not functioning:
- University Blvd at Inwood Avenue
- University Blvd at Amherst Avenue
- Veirs Mill Road at Reedie Drive
- Georgia Avenue at Randolph Road
- Georgia Avenue at Shorefield Road
