2 New MA Restaurants Among 'Best In The Country,' List Says
Two of Bon Appétit's "24 Best New Restaurants of 2023" are right here in Massachusetts.
MASSACHUSETTS — Bon Appétit just revealed its 24 Best New Restaurants of 2023 list — which boasts two dozen haunts across the country — and two Massachusetts spots made the cut!
Coming in at number 16 is Moëca in Cambridge, while Rubato in Quincy took the number 21 spot.
Moëca describes itself as a "neighborhood seafood-focused restaurant inspired by Italy and beyond Cambridge," serving scallops, semolina gnocchi, and smoked scallop taramasalata that Bon Appétit's critics raved about.

The restaurant "approaches seafood with a sensibility that is rooted in sustainability, yes, but also curiosity—and it is as necessary as it is wonderful," wrote Amiel Stanek.
And Rubato, the modern Hong-Kong cafe that says it cooks "with the local people in mind," offers its own take on Chinese classes like homemade soy milk, congee, and youtiao. Stanek describes its bolo baos as having an "iresistibly sweet crackle top."

"This is the food of a grounded, confident chef playing familiar tunes with abundant style," according to Stanek.
Taking the number one spot across the country is Washington D.C.'s Bar Spero, which Stanek describes as a "brassy grill-focused ode to Basque nightlife" with offerings that range from grilled turbot to burnt cheesecake ice cream.
