MASSACHUSETTS — Two Massachusetts residents have claimed $1 million Powerball prizes and a third winning ticket has gone unclaimed. The winners all had tickets for the July 19 drawing and two claimed their prizes Friday at state Lottery headquarters in Dorchester.

Jan Busby of Norfolk was the first to claim her prize. The winning numbers Busby selected were birthdays of family members, according to Mass Lottery. She said she only plays a few times a year but played this time because the jackpot was so high.

She purchased the lucky ticket at Shaw’s Supermarket at 255 East Central St. in Franklin.

Rae Ann Wentworth-Cadieux of Hadley claimed her prize late Friday afternoon. She chose the numbers 7 and 11 for the name of the convenience store chain and used race car numbers for the remainder (10, 13, and 24).

She plans to use her winnings to buy a summer home, Mass Lottery said in a statement. She bought the ticket at Pride Station & Store at 445 Russell St. in Hadley.

A third $1 million prize won in Massachusetts in this drawing was sold by Global Montello/Gulf, at 821 Main St. in Waltham. The prize has not yet been claimed.

Each of the three retailers that sold these winning tickets receives a $10,000 bonus.

The winning numbers for the July 19 Powerball drawing were 7-10-11-13-24-24. The Powerball jackpot had ballooned to $1 billion before that drawing. A ticket sold in Los Angeles matched all six Powerball numbers to win the jackpot, according to California Lottery.

For the $1 million prize, players had to match five numbers. The odds of winning that prize were 1 in 11.6 million. Across the country, there were 31 winners of the $1 million prize in that drawing.

The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday with a $41 million jackpot.
