In addition, another Bay State health care company that previously announced 78 layoffs, Community Healthlink, said that number had increased to 84 cuts planned by July 6.

A total of nearly 300 layoffs were announced a week ago in Massachusetts. The state requires WARN filings from any employer ending more than 50 jobs.

The Massachusetts unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in March, a slight downtick from the February level of 4.8 percent – but otherwise the highest rate in nearly four years, according to the state’s most recent data.

The March rate was also greater than the U.S. rate of 4.3 percent for the month.
