Boston Man Killed In Skydiving Mishap

An "unexpected gust of wind interfered" with the man's parachute, according to the district attorney's office.

ORANGE, MA — A Boston man was killed Sunday in a skydiving mishap.

Mani Chandra Teja Gaddam, 28, "fell to the ground from a height of approximately 30 feet when a sudden and unexpected gust of wind interfered with his parachute," the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said in a media release.

Gaddam was skydiving at Jumptown Skydiving about 4 p.m. Sunday when he was fatally injured in the fall, the release said.

He was taken to Athol Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the release.

"The accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the Orange Police Department, and the Federal Aviation Administration," the release said.
