National Ice Cream Day is coming up on Sunday, giving Massachusetts ice cream fans a few ways to get a free or discounted scoop.
Several chains and local shops are marking the July 19 holiday with giveaways, rewards offers and limited-time discounts. Some offers require an app or loyalty account, and participation may vary by location.
New City Microcreamery: The Massachusetts scoop shop is giving away a $25 gift card for National Ice Cream Day. To enter, customers must like the giveaway post, comment with a favorite New City flavor and follow the shop on Facebook and Instagram. You can find the post .
The company also posted a Chestnut Hill National Ice Cream Day special offering 25 percent off all ice cream and milkshakes on July 19.
Friendly’s: Customers can get a free cone or dish on July 19, according to the company's social media post.
Dairy Queen: DQ Rewards members can get a free Dilly Bar with an app order of $1 or more through July 19. The offer is one per customer and must be redeemed through the DQ app.
Stop & Shop: GO Rewards members can get a free 1.5-quart tub of Stop & Shop brand ice cream by checking in at an in-store Savings Station kiosk. The offer runs while supplies last.
Petco: Dogs can get in on the holiday, too. Petco is offering free doggy ice cream on July 19 at participating stores, with a limit of one per dog while supplies last.
Cold Stone Creamery: Rewards members can get $5 off $10 or more in July by texting LOVEIT26 to 568348, according to Cold Stone Creamery’s National Ice Cream Day promotion.
Plus, check out the Massachusetts Ice Cream Trail, a state-backed guide launched in 2024 to promote ice cream shops, farm stands, and dairy farms that use Massachusetts dairy products, according to GBH.
