Minogue Faces Off Against Shortsleeve In MA Gubernotorial Primary

Two Republican businessmen are facing off to take on incumbent Maura Healey in the Massachusetts governor's race.

Michael Roger Minogue, a graduate of West Point who served in Operation Desert Storm, was "drawn to the medical device industry for its purpose to improve and save the lives of people all over the world," according to his website.

He "served for nearly 19 years as Chairman, President and CEO of Abiomed, Inc., a Massachusetts-based medical device company headquartered in Danvers ... since 1981," the site said.

Minogue's opponent, Brian Shortsleeve, led Marines on deployments to Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Persian Gulf, according to his website.

"In the private sector, Brian built a career helping small American technology companies grow, create jobs, and win in their industries," the site said. "As the founder of M33 Growth, he works closely with entrepreneurial founders and CEOs to scale businesses, drive innovation, and strengthen our economy."

Shortsleeve plans "to bring commonsense conservative leadership to Beacon Hill — cutting taxes, slashing waste and overregulation, and making Massachusetts a place where businesses and families can thrive once again," his site said.

Minogue, according to his website, intends to audit the Legislature and the budget, cut taxes and spending, grow jobs, and keep communities safe.

"With Mike as governor, illegal immigrants will not have free Right to Shelter, and free everything, attracting more of them into our state and cities," his site said. "We need safety in our schools and sports too — girls need fair and safe sports."
