2 Boston EMTs Attacked While Responding To Call

The pair was attacked while attempting to provide medical care to a patient near 4 Cheney St. in Roxbury on Saturday, Aug. 29 during the neighborhood's Caribbean Festival. Boston Police responded to Boston Medical Center at approximately 3:19 p.m. for a report of an assault and battery. Both EMTs suffered minor injuries and were treated and released. The assaults came during what the union described as an extremely busy day for Boston EMS, with fewer units available than the city requires to safely meet the demand for emergency medical services.

Huge Scratch-Off Winner Sold At Wakefield Store

A $10,000 winning ticket in the Lifetime Millions game was sold at Mark's Smoke Shop on Main Street. Lifetime Millions is a $50 scratch-off ticket with a grand prize of $1 million per year for life. The game first launched in February of 2024. Retailers that sell winning tickets typically receive a bonus from the Lottery.

Peabody Hockey Community Rallies Around Young Family After Mother's Death

A "Meal Train" campaign has been set up for the family of Christina Cooper, who died last week following a courageous battle with cancer. Cooper grew up in Winthrop and attended Endicott College. She lived in Peabody and was the mother of Landon, Natalie and Myles, and stepmother of Avery. A remembrance and prayer service was recently held for the mother of three.

The Northeast, including all of Massachusetts, has a 33 to 40 percent chance of above-normal temperatures in September, October and November. In its seasonal precipitation outlook, Massachusetts has a 33% to 40% chance of below-normal precipitation, while the southern half has equal chances of above-, near- or below-normal precipitation. However, one meteorologist at the Climate Prediction Center, said the outlook represents only a "modest tilt" toward warmer-than-normal conditions over the three-month period and doesn't predict individual variations within the season.

Medford Resident Reports Losing Thousands Of Dollars To Phone Scam

The person reported receiving a call and text on Monday evening from a scammer falsely posing as a member of the Middlesex Sheriff's Office. According to officials, the scammer told the resident there was a warrant out for their arrest for failing to appear for jury duty and allegedly texted the victim a copy of a warrant before directing them to pay a fine using bitcoin. The Middlesex Sheriff's Office and Medford Police Department said in response that legitimate law enforcement agencies will never threaten someone with arrest or demand payment of a fine or fee over the phone.
