NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA — The final bull of the eight that escaped from their pens while appearing at Emerald Square Mall in North Attleboro for a rodeo Sunday has been safely captured, officials said Monday night.

About eight hours before the final bull's capture, the North Attleboro Fire Department said it was still on the loose in the Allen Avenue area and that rodeo personnel were being assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing.

Fire officials said that they were working at Emerald Square Mall in North Attleboro, where the rodeo was taking place Sunday, when they witnessed eight bulls escape from their pens around 12:30 p.m.

The bulls ran through the parking lot and jumped over a fence surrounding the event's perimeter before running toward the woods behind BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, according to officials.

One bull was caught shortly after escaping. Crews from several agencies banded together to assist with the search of the remaining seven.
