Heat Wave Set To Scorch MA Into Weekend: See Latest Forecast

The first heat wave of the season is in store for much of Massachusetts before another batch of weekend storms breaks up the sunny, summer-like weather.

Temperatures are forecast to hit 90 degrees for three straight days starting Thursday — the meteorological definition of a heat wave — before storms arrive Saturday night.

The good news for those who are not fans of the sweltering summer conditions is that this hot stretch will feature mostly low humidity — creating the so-called "dry heat" that does not feel as oppressive as the dog days of summer.

Thursday is forecast to be sunny and hot with a high of 91 degrees.

After a low of 63 degrees under clear skies on Thursday night, Friday will again be hot and sunny with a high of 90.

Temperatures will hover in the upper 60s on Friday night before one more scorcher on Saturday as temperatures again soar to 91 degrees.

Saturday night brings a chance of showers and thunderstorms arriving mostly after dark. The low temperature Saturday night is forecast at 67 degrees.

Sunday will be a cooler and muggy day with a high of 78 degrees. There will be considerable cloudiness with rain in the morning and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Monday will be a much cooler day with a high of 67 degrees and a strong northeast wind making it feel even cooler than that.

But temperatures are forecast to rebound into the middle of next week with sunny skies and a high of 74 degrees on Tuesday and highs in the 80s on Wednesday.
