Heavy Rain, High Winds In MA To End Weekend Once Again

In what could be a near repeat of last week's flooding and wind damage, a strong storm is headed toward New England on Sunday night.

It is looking like a virtual rinse and repeat for southern New England this week as warm temperatures give way to wind and heavy rain late Sunday into the Monday morning commute.

MASSACHUSETTS — It is looking like a virtual rinse and repeat for southern New England this weekend as warm temperatures to start the weekend give way to wind and heavy rain late Sunday into the Monday morning commute.

In a near repeat from last weekend when a powerful front dropped more than four inches of rain over parts of eastern Massachusetts and carried 70-mile-per-hour wind gusts across the Cape, the National Weather Service is once again forecasting a wet and wild end to this weekend.

The good news is the next couple of days will be pleasant after Thursday's cold. High temperatures are forecast for in the 50s on Friday and high 40s with sunny skies on Saturday. Sunday should be another decent one with highs remaining in the 40s as clouds move in from the south.

One change from last week will be that the rain should move in very late in the day on Sunday and ramp up overnight. Winds also might be quite as strong with gusts up to 40 mph.

It will be stormy throughout the day on Monday. But those looking for signs of winter will again be disappointed as temperatures are forecast to linger in the 50s throughout the day.

The start of the holiday travel week is looking unsettled with lingering showers and temperatures seasonable in the high 30s and low 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
