MA In For Coldest Christmas In A Decade: Records

MASSACHUSETTS — This Christmas, it'll be hard to imagine that just two years ago temperatures reached 60 degrees on Dec. 25.

Massachusetts will experience some downright frigid temperatures on Christmas this year, according to forecasts. Lows will be in the teens in Worcester, and about 20 in Boston. The situation won't warm up much from there, with a high of 28 in Boston and 25 in Worcester in the forecast.

Of course, New England isn't known for being warm in December. But this Christmas will still be one of the coldest in recent times. Dating back to 2002, the daytime high has only been in the 20s once in Boston (2013) and three times in the Worcester area, according to National Weather Service records.

(And if you're keeping score, it's only snowed two times on Christmas in the eastern half of the state: 2017 and 2002.)
