MA Man Facing Charges In Several Sexual Assaults Of A Child

RUTLAND, MA — A 54-year-old Rutland man is facing charges including aggravated rape of a child in connection with a series of sexual assaults that occurred in town over several years, police said Tuesday.

The sexual assaults were reported by more than one complainant on May 30, according to police. On Tuesday morning, the accused, Shawn Baillargeon, was charged with aggravated rape of a child, rape of a child, and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Baillargeon was transported to the East Brookfield District Court for arraignment.

"The Rutland Police Department would like to commend the bravery of the victims in this case who came forward," police said. "We encourage all victims of sexual abuse to come forward, and we promise to do everything in our power to offer support."
