MA Police Seize 23,000+ Bags Of Heroin
Two Massachusetts men face trafficking charges after police raided their home Wednesday.

SPRINGFIELD, MA – Police seized thousands of bags of heroin during a raid of a Springfield home Wednesday afternoon. Police allegedly found approximately 23,750 bags of heroin, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia and nearly $13,000 at the Gresham Street home. Two residents, 23-year-old Brian Santiago and 46-year-old Javier Torres, were arrested.
The pair face heroin trafficking charges and possession of a Class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute. Santiago is also charged with possession of ammunition without an FID card.
The "large scale heroin operation" brought "thousands of bags of heroin" to Springfield area, according to Capt. Brian Keenan of the Springfield Police Narcotics Bureau. Springfield Police Commissioner John Barbieri said the arrests "saved lives and make our city and region safer."

Santiago and Torres will be arraigned in Springfield District Court Thursday.
