MA Town Makes National List For Its Stunning Main Street
Reader's Digest said the town is known for its "vibrant arts scene and friendliness to the LGBTQ+ community."
PROVINCETOWN, MA — Does the explosion of online retail and the spread of the big-box stores have you down? Main Street USA — where you could get everything you need — may not have the cultural capital it once did, but there are still plenty of places around the country where you can find that quaint, old-fashioned feel.
With that in mind, Reader's Digest "traveled to the farthest corners of the map to find the most beautiful main streets in America." These streets are lined with historic buildings, cozy cafés and local boutiques, promising plenty of character for visitors.
And one of the "20 Most Beautiful Main Streets in America" is right here in Massachusetts. The publication selected Provincetown as one of the finest.

Here's what Reader's Digest had to say about Provincetown: "About 120 miles from Boston, this Cape Cod vacation town is known for its vibrant arts scene and friendliness to the LGBTQ+ community. The main drag, Commercial Street, is one of Massachusetts’s most beautiful main streets, with a small-town feel and Queen Anne–style buildings. Homes, bed and breakfasts, art galleries, shops and restaurants mix seamlessly on this bustling main street."
Perhaps it's not surprising that New England — a region consistently hailed for the charms of its towns — is well-represented on the list. Other regional representatives included Kent, Connecticut; Bath, Maine, and Woodstock, Vermont.
