MA Under Winter Weather, Flood Advisories As Storm Approaches
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory covering most of the state.

MASSACHUSETTS — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory covering most of the state. A storm rolling through Thursday night into Friday is expected to bring mixed precipitation, with up to 6 inches of snow possible north of Route 2.
The advisory covers all of Worcester County, Middlesex County, and Essex County. The precipitation is likely to cause slippery and hazardous driving conditions for the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
The forecast calls for Southern Worcester County and Hampden County getting up to 3 inches of snow. Ice could be a problem with possible accumulations of over a tenth of an inch.

Eastern Essex County and Southeast Middlesex County are expected to get 2 to 4 inches of snow.
The winter weather advisory will be in effect noon Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday.

The state Department of Transportation cautioned: "Drivers should allow extra travel time and check forecasts for their routes and destinations as this will be a long-duration storm system. Travelers should exercise caution especially in areas of higher elevation, primarily the northern and western parts of Massachusetts and along the New Hampshire border."
A coastal flood advisory has been issued for Boston as well. Minor coastal flooding is possible along Morrissey Boulevard in Boston. Coastal flooding is expected along the North Shore from Gloucester to Newburyport. Waves will likely cause some washover on coastal roads around the time of high tide, according to the National Weather Service.
