'Near Record' Temperatures In MA: See How Warm It'll Be Near You

Could it hit 80 degrees in Massachusetts this weekend? There's a better chance of that than winning Powerball.

MASSACHUSETTS — With temperatures in the 30s across the region Thursday morning, it's almost unbelievable that we may see record high temperatures this weekend.

Forecasts from earlier this week predicting temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70s on Saturday and Sunday have held firm, with the National Weather Service saying parts of southern New England may set temperature records over the weekend and into Monday.

"A prolonged period of dry and unseasonably mild to warm afternoons will last through the weekend and into early next week. Record warmth is possible this weekend into Monday, with highs in the 70s, almost 20 degrees warmer than normal," the weather service said Thursday morning.

It appears Boston has the best chance of breaking a high temperature record on Sunday. According to the National Weather service, the all-time high temperature for Nov. 6 was set in 2015 at 73 degrees, just one degree cooler than the forecast for this Sunday. Worcester might get there too. The highest recorded temperature for any Nov. 6 was set in 2020 at 71 degrees.

After Monday, temperatures will settle into a more seasonable pattern, with daytime highs of 60 or lower across the region, according to forecasts.
