MASSACHUSETTS — A storm arriving in New England late in the week will deliver a wintry mix that could make Friday morning's commute a mess. The mixed precipitation will begin Thursday afternoon and is anticipated to change over to snow north of the Mass Pike late Thursday evening, WCVB reported.

The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 42 for Boston on Thursday, with a northwest wind developing in the afternoon. Rain is expected Thursday night with up to an inch of precipitation possible. That precipitation will change to snow Friday with accumulations of less than an inch possible and a high near 37.

Worcester will also see rain after 4 p.m. Thursday with highs in the low 40s. The rain will change to snow overnight with less than an inch of precipitation possible. By 9 a.m. Friday, the precipitation is expected to be all snow with the high near 34. One to three inches of snow is possible.

On Cape Cod, the high Thursday will be 42 with rain likely after 4 p.m. More rain is anticipated for Friday with a high near 41, according to the weather service.

The biggest snow impact will be north of Route 2. The storm is expected to bring several inches of snow to northern New England's ski resorts, according to WCVB.

Once this storm clear out, the weekend appears mostly clear. However, the National Weather Service says another storm bringing wind and rain may be on the way early next week.
