Temperatures To Soar Into 90s In MA This Week

MASSACHUSETTS — The week will get off to a mild start, temperatures are expected to heat up in Massachusetts with highs climbing into the 90s by the end of the week.

"A general warming trend is expected through Friday with highs reaching the low to mid 90s by the end of the week," the National Weather Service Boston tweeted. "Dew points will also be on the rise this week getting into the upper 50s by Thursday and Friday."

The Southern New England 5-day outlook calls for highs of 70 to 80 degrees Tuesday, 75 to 85 degrees Wednesday, 80 to 90 degrees Thursday, and 85 to 95 degrees Friday. Skies are expected to be clear. Then things cool down Saturday with highs of 65 to 75 degrees and a 20 percent chance of rain.

For Tuesday, hazy/smoky skies are forecast. The smoke is from fires in Nova Scotia, according to the National Weather Service. Smoke and haze affecting Massachusetts in previous weeks was related to massive wildfires in Alberta.

Cape Cod

Tuesday: Areas of smoke between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunny with a high near 62.

Wednesday: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise sunny with a high near 67.

Thursday: Sunny with a high near 70.

Friday: Sunny with a high near 72. Chance of showers after 2 a.m.

Saturday: Chance of showers before 9 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63.
