Temps Dip Below Freezing Across State Monday Night

After an unseasonably mild Halloween, temperatures across Massachusetts are expected to plunge into the 30s Monday night for the first time.

ACROSS MASSACHUSETTS — It’s officially November in Massachusetts. After a mild Halloween, temperatures are expected to drop below freezing for the first time in much of the state, ushering in a below-average cold front that will last for the rest of the week. Many communities can expect the first frost of the year.

On Monday night, temperatures are expected to drop to the 40s along the coast, and the 30s inland. Boston will be 41 and cloudy Monday night, Springfield will drop to 35, and New Bedford will be 38, according to weather.com.

Temperatures will warm up Tuesday, reaching the upper 50s in some areas by the afternoon. By nightfall, however, overnight lows are expected to dip into the 30s and 20s, into Wednesday morning, according to an NECN report . The rest of the week is expected to be cold and cloudy across the state, with temperatures hovering around the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Boston is expected to hover around 50 Thursday and Friday, as will Springfield.

Normally, highs are in the mid and upper 50s this time of year.
