Where To Get A Flu Shot In MA This Fall

Flu-shot season is arriving in Massachusetts, with residents able to find vaccines beyond their regular doctor’s office.

Community health centers, pharmacies, urgent care clinics and local health departments are among the options available this fall. The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers says community health centers across the state often hold seasonal flu clinics.

Residents can use the league’s online directory to find a nearby center. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health also directs residents to Vaccines.gov and recommends contacting local boards of health about municipal clinics, including which age groups they serve.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends annual flu vaccination for everyone 6 months and older who does not have a medical reason to avoid it. September and October are generally good times for most people to receive the vaccine, according to the CDC’s flu vaccine guidance.

All three virus components in the 2026-27 seasonal flu vaccines were updated from the previous season. One change targets an influenza A(H3N2) strain that spread widely during the 2025-26 season, according to the CDC.

Appointments, costs, age requirements and vaccine availability may vary by provider. Residents should contact a clinic, pharmacy or local health department before visiting.
