MASSACHUSETTS — Relief from inflation or soaring utility prices? How about fixing roads and bridges? Maybe figuring out why little kids have to pay for lunch at school?

Nope. On Thursday, the U.S. House spent its time debating and voting to declare that socialism "necessitates a concentration of power that has time and time again collapsed into communist regimes, totalitarian rule, and brutal dictatorships."

It turns out, the one thing Congressional Republicans and Democrats can agree on is denouncing an economic philosophy the U.S. does not use (except maybe Social Security, Medicare and, you know, corporate subsidies). The House Thursday voted 328-86 on the resolution from U.S. Rep. Maria Salazar, R-Miami. Six members were absent, and 14 voted "present."
