Whip Clark Statement on Passage of Government Funding Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democratic Whip Katherine Clark released the following statement after the House passed a minibus funding package:

“Democrats have once again defeated the worst impulses of this MAGA Majority. We have prevented Republican extremists from inflicting the chaos of a needless government shutdown while safeguarding vital programs from devastating cuts.

“This compromise doesn’t have everything we need, and it isn’t what a Democratic House Majority would deliver. But it excludes harmful attacks on reproductive freedom and the LGBTQIA+ community while continuing critical investments in the American people. I’m especially proud that Democrats delivered a $1 billion increase to our child care programs — a critical step forward for working families and our ability to grow the economy by growing the middle class.

“Much more work remains. We must act immediately to pass the Bipartisan National Security Bill, stand with our allies, deliver urgent humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, and fully invest in American families.”
