Whip Clark Statement on Supreme Court Bump Stock Decision

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement:

"Today, Donald Trump's right-wing Supreme Court majority has decided to unleash automatic weapons onto our streets. This ruling defies common sense and helps no one but those plotting the next mass shooting.

"Bump stocks are tools of large-scale murder. That's why both parties came together to protect our kids and communities from these egregiously dangerous devices.

"Today's ruling underscores just how far Republicans have spiraled into extremism: striking down their own policies and sacrificing innocent lives to follow the moving goal posts of ideological purity.

"Congress must act swiftly to correct today's decision and codify this straightforward protection into federal law."
