9-11 Memorial Fund Committee To Start Construction Early July

Although construction for the new town 9-11 memorial is just underway, there is still time to donate.

The Acton 9-11 Memorial Fund Committee has recently announced that they will begin construction of the new memorial outside of the Public Safety facility Monday, July 11. Fencing will be put in place around the construction site to keep the outcome of the memorial a surprise and to make sure no one gets injured at the active construction site.

The unveiling of the memorial will take place on September 11, 2011 - but there is still a lot of work to be done.

The Committee has interestingly incorporated a way for community members to donate money to the memorial by becoming a part of the memorial. Community members and citizens alike can purchase a brick for $100 that will be laid down at the memorial with an engraved personalized message. There are 189 open spaces for bricks to be purchased and donations will be accepted after the memorial is unveiled - regular bricks will be put in place waiting for people to purchase and engrave them.

"I think once people see the final product, they may be more excited to buy a brick and write a message," said Committee member, Jon Stackhouse."
