Acton Selectmen OK Bring-Your-Own-Beer License for New Seafood Joint

Although Twin Seafood customers will not be able to buy alcohol at the restaurant, they will be able to bring their own. Twin Seafood will be opening in the near future on 541 Massachusetts Avenue, West Acton (final stage of construction underway).

Last night, the Acton Board of Selectmen agreed to allow Twin Seafood, soon to open on 541 Massachusetts Avenue, a Common Victualler’s License and a Carry In License (bring-your-own-beer).

Owner of Twin Seafood, John Loblundo, operates a Twin Seafood in West Concord and will soon be bringing his fresh fish to West Acton.

The restaurant is due to open in the near future and is part of the WAVE Project for West Acton (West Acton Village Ecology). The planners, designers and the contractors are New Habitat Partners LLC, OMR Architects and Bluefin Building & Design, LLC. (all locally operating out of the West Acton strip 543 - 525 Massachusetts Avenue). The WAVE Project is designed to help transform West Acton into a more community friendly common. According to Loblundo, Twin Seafood in Acton will offer fresh fish and lobster, take-out, a 900 square-foot deck to eat outside and a place for customers to eat inside.

“A lot of people from the surrounding areas have asked us to get a carry-in license,” said Loblundo. “It was more a fact that people want it and that’s why we are going for it.”

Twin Seafood in West Concord does not have a Carry-In License.

"It is a little different in terms of if you’re selling alcohol – this is obviously people bringing in their own but you still are culpable if you see someone who is intoxicated and you let them get in their car," said Board of Selectmen Chair, Mike Gowing. “We just want to make sure we cover that because we want to keep people safe.”

Twin Seafood recently took the office space of Village Art, who conveniently moved a building over into a better spot, according to owner, Amanda Sullivan.
