New Pole & New Transformer for Concord Road Incident
Hurricane Irene did a number to Acton; Concord Road in particular.
a large white pine tree uprooted from the ground due to high water conditions, which brought the wires down with it and snapped the utility pole on Concord Road Sunday morning. This incident caused power to go out throughout the area and a major part of Concord Road to be shut down for longer than 24 hours.
“We seem to be in pretty good shape,” said Charter. “The wires up top are still in rough shape but we have a new utility pole up and we have cut-away all the tree debris. This is what is keeping the Robbins Park neighborhood to remain without power. I mean, they needed to get a new pole in there and a transformer fell so they needed to get a new transformer in there and restring all the wires – so that’s all on NSTAR right now.”
When something like this happens, first responders are the fire and police departments to secure off the area so no one gets hurt from the electrical wires that are down. Then, NSTAR comes in and shuts the power down and once the power is off, all the debris are removed from the area. After that, a new pole and a new transformer are replaced.
