POLL: Are You in Favor of Mosquito Spraying in Acton?
The Central Mass Mosquito Control Project (CMMCP) will be spraying areas of Acton today to combat the recent discovery of the EEE virus.

With the recent discovery of the yesterday, the Central Mass Mosquito Control Project (CMMCP) is scheduled to spray the infected areas tonight (locations are currently unknown and will be announced on Patch as soon as we know).
According to Doug Halley, Director of the Acton Board of Health, the Town did a study 20 years ago to see if the CMMCP spraying is harmful to humans and the study indicated it is not (the chemicals used during the spraying today are the same as they were 20 years ago, according to Halley).
"The Board of Health looked into the potential health risks of spraying roughly 20 years ago and based on all the scientific literature that we reviewed at that time, they could not find a health risk that would be of concern to the residence in the community," said Halley. "There is always that potential on some future day some scientific study may show a risk that we are discerning now so why over spray when it's not necessary."
