UPDATE: E. Coli Closes NARA Beach – Opens Bouncy Water Slides
An update about the E. Coli bacteria found at NARA beach.

According to Acton Health Director, Doug Halley, every Monday, the department checks the bacteria levels at . On Monday, July 23, the water tested positive for abnormal levels of and the beach was closed Tuesday, July 24, and is currently closed.
"The unfortunate truth is that this is not unusual," said Halley. "The pond has been closed before and usually is during high temperatures because what happens is the water becomes very warm and the quantity of water is less than usual because of the drought that is occurring and those conditions tend to promote bacteria along with the fact that we have a lot of wildlife that live near the pond and we constantly have to be vigilant about picking up the droppings and making sure that they don't impact the pond."
Wednesday, July 25, the Acton Recreation department is bringing in alternative water recreation for the kids, i.e., bouncy water slides and such.

"What they are doing currently is irrigating the pond – applying air into the pond so that it helps to release the bacteria from within the water," said Halley.
