5-Year-Old Drowns in Methuen Pool

A 5-year-old girl drowned in a back yard pool on Sunday in Methuen, according to authorities.

In the wake of the tragedy, Wrentham Police are urging residents to do their part in preventing another tragedy.

“Go online and review safety procedures for pools. Learn CPR. Teach your children to swim. Whether it’s your child, a visiting child or a curious child who wanders into your yard, your efforts could prevent a drowning,” Wrentham Police posted on their Facebook page.

The drowning victim in Methuen was being watched by a 15-year-old babysitter, according to WHDH,com/7 News.

Wrentham lost Karim Jaber, 3, on June 5, 2005. Stoughton lost Bradley Lessa, 3, on August 28, 2004. Since Bradley and Karim drowned, many more young lives have been lost.
