The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Andover and the surrounding region. Temperatures are expected to reach, and potentially exceed, 100 degrees over the coming days.

Residents are urged to take precautions to stay safe during this period of extreme heat. Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during midday and afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible, and check on older adults, young children, neighbors, and others who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illness.

Public buildings in Andover are open during regular business hours for residents who need a place to cool off, including Memorial Hall Library, which is open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and The Robb Center, which is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with extended hours on Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

In the event of a medical emergency, call 911.
