ANDOVER, MA — Andover residents may experience temporarily discolored water as ongoing water main construction continues.
Residents and businesses in Downtown Andover are most likely to experience the discoloration.
The discoloration is tied to current construction activity affecting the water system. The issue is expected to be temporary, but residents in the downtown area and nearby neighborhoods may notice changes in water color while the work is underway.
Residents who see discolored water are being advised to run cold water from a bathtub, basement sink, or outdoor spigot until the water runs clear. Doing that can help flush nearby pipes and resolve the discoloration.
Andover Department of Public Works crews will be running hydrants overnight. That work is intended to help clear the water system and reduce discoloration connected to the construction activity.
