1. Andover Residents Warned Of Temporary Discolored Water (patch.com) — Residents in downtown Andover and nearby neighborhoods are being warned they may see temporarily discolored water while water main construction continues. Town officials say the color change is tied to ongoing work, and recommend running cold water until it clears as crews flush hydrants overnight to stabilize the system.
2. Andover Resident Charged With Voter Fraud In 2024 Presidential Election (patch.com) — An Andover resident is facing federal charges after prosecutors say he impersonated another Chinese national to submit a fraudulent voter registration and ballot in the 2024 presidential election, then reported the victim for alleged voter fraud. Authorities allege he also filed fake immigration paperwork that led to the victim and his wife having their Green Cards confiscated and being placed in removal proceedings, while he now faces potential prison time and deportation.
3. Aug. 18 Public Safety Notebook: Driver Found Unconscious After Vehicle Rolls Into Tree (andovermanews.com) — Andover police and firefighters responded Tuesday to a series of calls, including reviving an unconscious driver after a car rolled into a tree on River Street and helping a child with a serious asthma attack. Other incidents included a skinny-dipping complaint at Camp Lorraine, a woman with luggage on River Road, and repeated safety checks at a South Andover home.
4. Longtime Andover Football Coach Sues APS, Principal Over Discrimination Claims (andovermanews.com) — A former Andover High School head football coach is suing the Town of Andover and the high school principal, claiming age and disability discrimination after he was not rehired for his old job. The long-serving teacher and coach alleges younger, non-disabled candidates were favored and that he lost wages and benefits; the town and Andover Public Schools are not commenting while the case is in litigation.
5. Gillette Buys Future $1B HQ Site in South Boston (bankerandtradesman.com) — Gillette's decision to move manufacturing to its 30-acre Burtt Road campus in Andover has allowed the company to shrink its Boston headquarters and pursue a major redevelopment there. While the $1 billion new HQ will rise in South Boston, Andover's plant remains central to Gillette's long-term operations and jobs footprint in the region.
