Andover Garden Club Members Share Gardening and Environmental Expertise

Four short presentations offer gardening tips for local homeowners.

The Andover Garden Club will kick off the club year on October 6 by showcasing the expertise of its members.

Four club members with many years of experience in their own home gardens and beyond will discuss a variety of gardening-related topics:

--Rosemary Halloran, past president of the Andover Garden Club, will present ideas to incorporate into the home garden.

--Joann Michalik will address the nearly universal desire for low-maintenance gardening with her discussion entitled the "Modern No-Work Gardener."

--Maria Shapiro, a certified Master Gardener, will address soil, the quality of which is critical to successful gardening.

--Caroline Grady will offer ideas for incorporating nature into our yards. She will also highlight the various schools (landscape design, horticulture, floral design, and environmental) offered to members of clubs that operate under the auspices of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.

When, Where, and How

The event will be held at South Church (41 Central Street, Andover MA) on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. It will begin at 10:00 AM with social time and refreshments, followed by a business meeting and the presentations.

The public is encouraged to take advantage of this program. A $10 donation is requested of nonmembers. Guests should mention if they are a member of another garden club.

About the Andover Garden Club

Founded in 1927, the Andover Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that encourages the study and practice of horticulture, landscape design, and floral design; aids in the beautification of the town of Andover; and helps protect and conserve natural resources. A member of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc., and National Garden Clubs, Inc., the club provides both financial and hands-on support to a variety of municipal, educational, and environmental organizations throughout the region.
