Andover Bear Spotting: Police Share Photo Of Bear On Beacon St

ANDOVER, MA — Have you seen the bear in town? The Andover Police Department shared a photo Thursday of a bear on Beacon Street. The photo was sent to them by the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, the town said.

The state has a population of over 4,500 black bears, according to information from the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife shared by the department. The population is growing and expanding eastward.

Black bears are not a threat to humans, but can be a nuisance due to their interest in human-associated food sources. Tips for managing bears include securing trash and removing bird feeders.

If you see a bear, you should make noise to get it to leave, according to the state information.
