Andover Doesn't Love That Dirty Water

The town hired a consultant to investigate the brown water problem that affected many residents over the summer.

ANDOVER, MA -- The town hired a consultant to come up with a fix for the brown water that flowed through the taps of many residents over the summer. Andover officials believe the brown water was caused by iron and manganese sediment that was stirred up during heavy use in the summer months, although some residents were reporting discolored water into the early fall.

Woodard and Curran will look for ways to eliminate the brown water issue and make recommendations on possible improvements at Andover's water treatment facility. At a selectmen's meeting earlier this month, Woodard and Curran Consultant Rob Little part of their work will be to determine the source of the minerals causing brown water.
