Andover High Principal Conrad Hired As Bedford Superintendent

The Bedford School Committee voted unanimously to name Conrad superintendent, Wednesday.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover High School Principal Philip Conrad has been hired as Bedford Public Schools superintendent. The Bedford School Committee voted unanimously to select Conrad, Wednesday afternoon. He accepted the offer soon after.

Conrad has been the Andover High principal since 2015.

"I am sorry that this news may have already reached you. It was always my intention to communicate this with the AHS community directly," Conrad said in a message to the school community. "The well-being and safety of the AHS staff and students has been, and will continue to be, my primary focus with the district’s closure. As the news evolves daily, our goal is to meet the needs for our students to make educational progress during this difficult time."

Conrad began his career as an art teacher in New Hampshire and served as the Rockport Middle/High School principal before coming to Andover.

"I look back on my five years at AHS with great pride. I am grateful to have worked with so many dedicated faculty and staff, and our committed and conscientious parents and community members. Our students and families are amazing and I am honored to have been a part of the Andover community," Conrad wrote. "In the coming weeks, I remain committed to taking care of our AHS families through the uncertainty. We are stronger when we work together and I am grateful for your support."
