ANDOVER, MA — An Andover man died on Saturday morning in a crash on Route 93. State police identified the man as Shannon Smith, 51 of Andover. The cause of the crash is under investigation.State police responded to a call at midnight for a single-car crash on Route 93 North, the crash happened South of Exit 45/River Road in Andover. Smith was driving a 2014 Cadillac CTS north on the road when the car drove into the guardrail, state police are investigating what may have caused the crash.Smith was the only person in the car and sustained serious injuries — he was taken to Lawrence General Hospital where he pronounced dead. State police closed the left lane on Route 93 North for two hours.
