"We are so excited to welcome back all our elementary students to full in-person learning five days a week, beginning on Monday, April 5. Our elementary principals and staff have worked very hard to ensure this transition will go smoothly. Our teachers and staff can’t wait for their students to be all together.
We know that you have been eager for in-person learning for your elementary school children. This has been an incredibly long and difficult year for all our families, so we thank you for your patience and understanding as we take this next important step to bringing all students back to school.

We will have an increased number of students in our schools, of course, so we assure you that we will be extra diligent in maintaining the COVID mitigation protocols we’ve had in place this year. These include mask wearing, hand sanitizing, and social distancing of 3 feet in classrooms and 6 feet in eating spaces. We also ask for your cooperation with contract tracing, if necessary.
As a reminder, at the beginning of school last fall, we asked you to sign a parent attestation verifying you will review each day COVID symptoms and keep your child/children home from school with any signs of illness. Please continue to do a Daily Wellness Check every morning, before your child/children come to school.
The Daily Wellness Check includes specifically looking for the following symptoms:
- Fever (100.00 degrees Fahrenheit), chills or shaking chills
- Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Headache when in combination with other symptoms
- Muscle aches or body aches
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms
- Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your school nurse for guidance or for any questions/concerns.
We look forward to seeing our students and families on Monday!"
Sincerely,
Claudia L Bach, Ed.D., Interim Superintendent of Schools
