"I am writing to follow up on the DESE Commissioner’s announcement regarding in-person learning for K-12 schools. I am delighted to share the following update:
- All elementary schools will return to 5 full days of in-person learning effective Monday, April 5. APS will continue to provide the remote academy. APS will discontinue the hybrid model for elementary schools beginning Monday, April 5.
- All middle schools will return to 5 full days of in-person learning effective Wednesday, April 28. APS will continue to provide the remote academy. APS will discontinue the hybrid model for middle schools beginning Wednesday, April 28.
- At this time Andover High School will continue the hybrid and remote academy models. We are continuing to explore avenues to increase in-person learning.
We ask that you direct specific questions about in-person learning or the remote academy to the building principal.

Bus transportation is currently available grades K-7. We will present a proposal to increase bus service to grade 8 at the School Committee meeting on Thursday, March 18.
In an effort to prepare, parents/guardians will receive an email on Tuesday, March 16:
- Grades K-5 and 6-8 - families will receive a registration link to select the in-person model or remote academy for each of their children and indicate if they would like their children to ride the bus;
- Grades 9-12 - families will receive a planning survey asking their preference for either in-person learning or remote academy for each of their children.
All responses are due on Sunday, March 22. Parents/guardians may request a model switch after April 5 for elementary students and after April 28 for middle school students directly through the building principals.
We are eager and excited to welcome back our K-8 students to in-person learning and sincerely thank our faculty, staff and administrators for their extraordinary planning and collaboration for our students’ return."
Sincerely,
Claudia Bach, Ed.D., Interim Superintendent
