Andover Resident Arrested, Charged With Repeated Vandalism

Police arrested the 32-year-old Andoverite following a brief car chase Sunday, Chief Patrick Keefe said.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover Police arrested a resident and charged him with multiple counts of vandalism, among other charges, Chief Patrick Keefe announced Sunday. Anson Adams, 32, was charged with: OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation of a MV, Failing to Stop for Police, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash, Speeding, Lights Violation, multiple counts of Malicious Destruction of Property, and multiple counts of Defacing Property. Adams was arrested following a brief car chase, Sunday.

According to Keefe's release, a witness called the department just after midnight Sunday, reporting that they saw someone spray painting Barron's Country Store on Lowell Street. They gave a description of the spray painter's vehicle and a partial registration number to the 911 operator.

Soon after, Andover Police Officer tried to stop the suspected vehicle, triggering a brief chase. Adams turned off the headlights in his attempt to flee, Keefe said, but he was caught, without injury.

Police investigated following the stop, and charged Adams in connection with other similar incidents of vandalism in the west section of Andover over the last week. Adams was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Lawrence District Court.
